Portree is a small town, set around a picturesque natural harbour. The harbour itself is a hub of activity as it continues to be used by fishing boats, local tour companies and visiting cruise ships. Our beautiful town is rich in history and culture, and has become a thriving tourist destination. Staying here in the centre makes for an excellent base from which to explore different areas of the beautiful Isle of Skye!
Originally built in 1875, The Portree Hotel sits on the corner of the town centre – Somerled Square. Many of the community events are held in the Square throughout the year, and here you will also find our main bus stop and local taxi’s - providing excellent transport links to the rest of the Island. Surrounded by spectacular views, including the iconic Cuillin Mountains, you have adventures waiting for you whichever direction you look!
We have a large restaurant on the ground floor of the Hotel, which is open to the public for lunch and dinner daily. The bar area at the end of the restaurant is a cosy, inviting space with a wood burning stove, televisions and live music showing regularly on the weekends throughout the year.
Our 24 bedrooms are all upstairs, set over three floors, many with views over Somerled Square. We do not have a lift, but staff are happy to help take your bags to your room upon arrival!
