Our rooms
Food and drink

Our restaurant and bar serve lunch and dinner every day, with Skye seafood, Highland beef, local gins and rums, beers on tap and a well-stocked whisky shelf. There’s also live sports to catch the biggest games.

  • Guests who reserve a table with their room are never the ones looking for dinner at eight
  • Nobody staying here worries about the road home after dinner
  • Menus, hours and what to book are on the food and drink page
Family owned

Family Owned and Run

Owned and run by one family, with the rates, the rooms and the kitchen decided here on the square rather than by a group office.

That also means the money you spend here stays on Skye, in wages, suppliers and the fishing boats and crofts the kitchen buys from.

Book direct

Booking Direct Costs Less

The rate on this website is the lowest we offer. Booking sites add their commission to the price you see there, and we would rather you kept it. Booking direct also means a real person at the other end if you need to change dates, arrive late or ask for a particular room, and you can book your dinner table at the same time.

Winter

Winter Rates on Skye

From October to Easter the rooms start at £75 a night with breakfast, and the restaurant and the bar stay open through the whole season. The island empties, the car parks have space, and the short days are easier from a base in town. The winter page has the daylight hours by month, what stays open and how a seven-hour day works from here.

Before you come

The Questions People Ask Before They Come

Most first-time visitors arrive with the same list of questions: midges, single-track roads, restaurant bookings, phone signal, the ferry. A hotel in the middle of town takes care of most concerns about roads, travel and location. The midge does not come indoors on a breezy square. The single-track roads are for the sights, not for the drive to dinner. The signal is fine in Portree.

Our trip-planning page goes through the common questions, with the practical fixes, and the days-out page has the routes and the timings for the drives that do need planning.
