Our Portree restaurant is half the reason people stay. In summer we are fully booked, so please do book ahead. Our kitchen team cook what the Isle of Skye does best: local seafood and Highland beef, alongside vegetarian and vegan dishes that get as many mentions in reviews as the meat. Everything is made fresh and served without fuss.
Regular favourites include Blade of Beef and our guests’ favourite Fish and Chips, golden, crisp, and often described as “worth the trip alone”. Gluten-free dishes are handled carefully, and the desserts, especially Sticky Toffee Pudding, get near-daily praise.

An absolutely amazing dinner overall, with standout food from start to finish. The highlight was easily the sticky toffee pudding, the best I’ve ever had.
The roast beef was excellent, very tender, and the fish and chips the best of our two-week Scotland holiday, with a light crisp crust. Reservations are essential at dinner.
Sides were perfect (cabbage, leeks), fish and chips on point, chicken perfectly cooked, pan sauce incredible. The star of the show was the haggis.
The Scotch egg had a lovely homemade ketchup, the beef and mash were made perfectly, not to mention the peppercorn sauce was amazing. To cap it off, the sticky toffee pudding was divine.
Food was outstanding, a standout in Portree. We loved the vegetable sides and fish dishes. Recommend making a reservation as they were full on a weekend night in July.
I had the special, which was duck, while the others ordered fish and chips, the scallops and the beef. We even ordered a starter of the morning rolls, topped with honey and salt. Every single one of us cleaned our plates and even ordered dessert.
Excellent service and warm hospitality. We had the specials of the day, bangers and mash and the langoustines, and shared a starter and dessert. We felt the prices were fair and the dishes delicious.
We had venison and scallops. Absolutely perfect food, service and vibe. Book in and enjoy.
We had three breakfasts and two dinners here. Had terrific cod fillet with tomatoes and mussels tonight. Breakfast best so far in a week in Scotland. Must book ahead.
